The Industry Capability Network (ICN) looks to raise the opportunities for local industry in major procurement projects. It does this because it believes there are substantial benefits for project owners and their prime contractors in considering local sub-contractors.
These benefits extend to engineering and manufacturing based projects and information technology projects. They include lower cost through the whole life of a project, asset or IT system, reduced exposure to foreign exchange risk, lowering supply chain delivery times, and ability to leverage locally based innovation.

The ICN works with New Zealand and Australian private and state owned enterprise, government departments and bodies to identify major project opportunities that can fulfilled through competitive local supply.
The ICN assists project managers and their agents by identifying New Zealand and Australian industry capable of supplying competitive alternatives to products and services that are currently imported.
