GORGON - DOWNSTREAM PROCUREMENT: INITIAL WORKS

The Gorgon Project is being pursued by the Australian subsidiaries of three leading international energy companies: Chevron, ExxonMobil and Shell.

Chevron is operator of the Project with a 50% interest, with ExxonMobil and Shell each holding 25%.

Chevron Australia is also the operator of the existing Barrow Island oil operation.

The Gorgon Project is based on:

· Development of the Greater Gorgon gas fields involving subsea pipelines to Barrow Island

· A gas processing facility on Barrow Island consisting of two, 5 million tonne per annum LNG trains

· LNG shipping facilities to transport products to international markets

· Assessment of a domestic gas plant and pipeline to deliver gas to the mainland

· Greenhouse gas management via reinjection of carbon dioxide into deep formations beneath Barrow Island.

The Gorgon Venture has undertaken a competitive tender process for the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contracts for the Upstream and Downstream packages of work for the Greater Gorgon Development.

Downstream Works

The Downstream component includes the LNG facility to be located on Barrow Island that will include two LNG processing trains, each with a capacity of five million tonnes per annum (MTPA), and a domestic gas plant.

An overview of the processing facility can be obtained from the Greater Gorgon website. A link to the website is located at the top right hand corner of this page.

The downstream contract was awarded to the Kellogg Joint Venture – Gorgon, which comprises KBR, JGC Corporation of Japan, and Australian-based partners Clough Projects Australia Pty Ltd and Hatch Associates Pty Ltd.

Upstream Works

The upstream contract, which includes all sub-sea production facilities and pipelines, was awarded to a joint venture involving the Australian entities of JP Kenny and Technip.

An overview of the offshore facilities and additional background information on the project, including its latest newsletter, can be obtained from the Greater Gorgon website. A link to the website is located at the top right hand corner of this page.
